Powerfail Recovery Powerfail recovery depends on the DDCS configuration and which part is recovering. Drives reachable through a DDCS channel can be connected to your PC two ways: ? The channel consists of a ring without any branching units. A single drive connected directly to your PC is a regenerative case of a ring connection. ? The channel consists of a tree of branching units with drives connected as leaves. 2.1.1 DDCS Ring In case of a DDCS ring, if power of a drive fails (or the communication loop is broken for any reason), your PC cannot communicate with any of the drives connected in the ring. If you have the drive status display on-line, all images in front of the drives in the browse tree pane change to show question marks. Also, if you have items, faults, or events on-line in the item sets pane, they will show signal quality bad. The same happens, if you update any off-line item, fault, or event, while power of a drive is down. When the power is restored (or the broken communication loop is fixed), DriveWindow recovers automatically. Note that qualities of off-line items, faults, and events do not change until you update them. 2.1.2 Branching Units Stay Up In case of a tree of branching units, if power of a drive fails
